London · trains, a day out and a show
By Rachel. Planning from operator pages, not a visit.
London is the city break because the station, the sightseeing day and the West End are three different clocks, and The O2 already has its own guide. This page is the arrival dinner, the late backup, a South Bank lunch, a show dinner, and something to eat before the train. I have not eaten these meals, and the page does not invent the bill.
One city break with four jobs: dinner when the train gets in, lunch on a sightseeing day, dinner before a West End show, and breakfast or lunch before the train home. The O2 is a different evening and stays on its own guide.
The places, and the job each one does
- St Pancras Brasserie by Searcys · Station brasserie · arrival dinner or departure breakfast
- Dishoom King’s Cross · Walk-in café · late-arrival backup or a flexible departure meal
- Lasdun at the National Theatre · Sit-down restaurant · sightseeing lunch or a South Bank pre-show meal
- The Understudy · Street-food bar · flexible lunch in the same building
- Brasserie Zédel · Reserved brasserie · dinner before a West End show
- Dishoom Covent Garden · Walk-in café · West End backup that drops the card hold
What is different here
Searcys is on the St Pancras concourse, with a kitchen that closes before the building does. Dishoom King’s Cross stays open later and does not need a reservation for two, which is useful when the train is late and less useful if you hate a queue. Lasdun is a sit-down meal at the National Theatre without a show ticket. The Understudy is the flexible meal in the same building, and its food service ends while the bar can still be open. Zédel will hold a card and charge £15 a person if you vanish. Dishoom Covent Garden will not, and it may make you wait. None of those facts is a walking time, a menu price, or a promise about Sunday.
Dining options in this guide
Every line below is what the operator published, with the page it came from and the day it was read. None of it confirms that your party can get in, get a table or eat the food. That part is still a phone call or a booking page.
Station brasserie · arrival dinner or departure breakfast
St Pancras Brasserie by Searcys
London · upper concourse, St Pancras International · N1C 4QL
Searcys puts the brasserie on the upper concourse and publishes a kitchen close that is earlier than the building hours: 10pm Monday–Saturday and 6pm Sunday. Breakfast is listed Monday–Friday 8:00–11:30 and Saturday 10:00–11:30. Sunday breakfast is not listed. À la carte runs Monday–Saturday 12:00–21:45 and Sunday 11:00–17:45. No prices or service charge were on the page.
Access: Public upper concourse, as described by the operator. The page does not require a Eurostar ticket and does not say the restaurant is inside Eurostar departures. A table is not permission to board.

Public area, no ticket needed to reach it.
St Pancras Brasserie places itself on the upper concourse. The page does not require a Eurostar ticket. It also does not say you can eat after passing Eurostar ticket gates. Source, read 2026-10-28.
- Booking
Not stated by the operator.
The page offers table booking and does not say whether walk-ins are kept. A booking is not confirmed by this guide. Source, read 2026-10-28.
- Hours and service
Kitchen closes at 10pm Monday–Saturday and at 6pm on Sunday. Breakfast menu Monday–Friday 8:00–11:30 and Saturday 10:00–11:30. Sunday breakfast is not listed.
Building hours run later than the kitchen on the same page: Monday–Friday 8am–11pm, Saturday 10am–11pm, Sunday 11am–7pm. À la carte is listed Monday–Saturday 12:00–21:45 and Sunday 11:00–17:45. Source, read 2026-10-28.
Confirm whether your train’s kitchen window still exists, the cancellation terms, and any service charge on the bill. An early Eurostar can leave before this kitchen opens. Enter the ticket’s own arrival time as a commitment rather than a guessed walk.

Walk-in café · late-arrival backup or a flexible departure meal
Dishoom King’s Cross
London · 5 Stable Street, N1C 4AB · near King’s Cross St Pancras
Dishoom describes a mostly walk-in café. Groups of any size may book during the day; after 6pm, bookings are for groups of six or more. Hours: Monday–Wednesday 8am–11pm, Thursday–Friday 8am–12am, Saturday 9am–12am, Sunday 9am–11pm. Breakfast and lunch are described as little or no queue. After 6pm and on weekends, the operator says total waits can range from 30 minutes to an hour. A separate last kitchen order is not stated. No prices were on the page.
Access: A public street café. It is not inside the Eurostar departure area. The operator names King’s Cross St Pancras as the nearest station and does not publish a walking time.

Those hours are building hours. The wait range is the operator’s busy-period statement, not a promise for a particular night. Source, read 2026-10-28.
Decide whether a queue is acceptable before you drop a Searcys booking. Do not copy the 30-to-60-minute range into the plan unless you mean it for that night. Large-group deposits, if any, need the group-booking terms.

Sit-down restaurant · sightseeing lunch or a South Bank pre-show meal
Lasdun at the National Theatre
London · National Theatre, Upper Ground, SE1 9PX
The National Theatre’s places-to-eat page says Lasdun offers à la carte, pre-theatre and bar dining, Monday to Saturday, and that bar seats are available pre-show, at the interval and after the show. The same page does not publish a clock time. Sunday opening is not stated there. No prices were on that page.
Access: Open to everyone, not just people seeing a show. A reservation is not a theatre ticket, and a theatre ticket is not a table.

Street-food bar · flexible lunch in the same building
The Understudy
London · National Theatre, Upper Ground, SE1 9PX
KERB traders supply the food, so the dish list can change. The page separates food service from the bar: Monday–Wednesday noon–midnight with food until 10pm; Thursday–Saturday noon–1am with food until 10pm; Sunday noon–10pm with food until 9pm. A £16.50 meal deal is published for Monday–Friday except Wednesday, 12pm–4pm, and all day Sunday. That price is the deal, not a party estimate.
Access: The page lets you book a table and does not say a reservation is required. It does not say a show ticket is required, and it does not say the bar is public. Admission stays unknown.

Confirm which trader is in on your date, whether the deal applies, and that food service has not ended. This backup stays in the same building as Lasdun. It does not remove a journey you have not measured.

Reserved brasserie · dinner before a West End show
Brasserie Zédel
London · 20 Sherwood Street, W1F 7ED · Piccadilly
Last orders are Monday–Saturday at 11pm and Sunday at 4pm. Service is listed from 12pm, so this is not breakfast and Sunday evening is outside these hours. Lunch bookings go to 16 guests and dinner bookings to 10. Some tables are first come, first served, and the operator still advises booking. Card details secure the reservation. No menu prices or service charge were on the pages read.

Put the show’s own door time in as a commitment. Ask how late you can cancel before the £15-per-person missed-booking fee applies. The page says cancelling online or by phone avoids the fee and does not state the deadline.

Walk-in café · West End backup that drops the card hold
Dishoom Covent Garden

Use this when Zédel’s card hold or Sunday 4pm last orders is the problem, and only if a queue is acceptable. Do not assume the walk from Sherwood Street is short. That time is not published here.

Still to resolve
- Eurostar’s help page says ticket checks for journeys to and from London close 30 minutes before departure in Standard and Plus, and 15 minutes before in Premier. The arrival time on your ticket is the one to follow, and Eurostar says the general advice can change. Do not paste those minutes in as a walking time.
- Searcys publishes a kitchen close that is earlier than the building hours. Dishoom publishes building hours and does not state a separate last kitchen order. The operator’s busy-period wait is not a number this guide will invent for your night.
- Lasdun’s places-to-eat page does not give a clock time, and it does not list Sunday. Confirm the sitting for your date. The Understudy does publish a food-service end, which is earlier than the bar on several nights.
- Brasserie Zédel takes card details and publishes a £15-per-person fee if you miss the table without cancelling. Dishoom Covent Garden is the walk-in alternative. It removes that hold and can add a queue. Neither booking is a theatre ticket.
- No menu prices are copied in as a party total. Service charge and tip were not on the pages read, so leave them blank. Keep the bill in GBP unless you enter a dated rate.
- Walking time between King’s Cross, the South Bank and Piccadilly is not in these sources. Enter only a transfer you have checked. An arena night belongs on the O2 guide.
